‘Transgender’ Could Be Defined Out of Existence Under Trump Administration

                        flag

The government is trying to change the definition of sex to their own meaning while trying to make the world think transgenders don’t exist or have a right. In this article, the New York Times writes on how Donald Trump and the Health and Human service are trying to change the views of transgenders. After reading this article it helped me see that people not only still think being who you wanna be or being comfortable is wrong, but they want to make you seem like you don’t even exist. I thought that people would continue to be hateful and homophobic. To think that people hate other people who don’t feel comfortable in their own body and wanna change so they can feel comfortable is sad. I feel as if it is also sad that you want to belittle them so much to the point that you want to make them feel as if they don’t exist and to think that they don’t exist.

Before reading about how Donald Trump wants to make it legal on what sex you are based on genes and what you were born with, I just thought he was a man who violated women and wanted America to be great again by failing. This article made me realize that he was that plus more. It didn’t really surprise me that he would want to make transgenders “disappear”, considering he had no respect for women and is a racist. Adding homophobic to the list is just an “I saw that coming” type of thing. What I do know about Donald Trump and the Health and Human Service is they don’t really care about how other people feel or how it affects them on the inside and out. I now understand that we or I cant rely and on my country or my president or my government to help MY PEOPLE. I know that they would fight against MY COMMUNITY rather than help us and make us feel safe.

This really relates to people everywhere in the world. A lot of people are homophobic or transphobic. Some are at your school, your job, or even in your family. Most are either out and open about how they really hate gays or transgender or just the LGBTQ+ community in general and some have the decency to keep it to their selves. It doesn’t matter wherever you go someone is going to be there to hate on them, but even though it starts off in small places it gets worse. When your president is saying its okay to openly hate them and to make them feel like they don’t belong on this earth is really sad.

GOPHERS assignment #2: Let Teenagers Sleep In

Let Teenagers Sleep In

sleep

Science teacher Mr. Nicholls Thinks students should sleep in. In the article, he states many facts on how sleeping in would help teenagers or how not letting them sleep in would hurt them in the long run. Mr. Nicholls thinks school starting at 8:30 would benefit students and other people that are in their environment. He explains how easy teenagers get sleep deprivation from waking up early and technology. Mr. Nicholls explains how late night technology tricks the brain into thinking that it is still light or daytime from the led light in phones, kitchen lights, or television. How that affects the sleep cycle while going to sleep late and waking up a teenager is equivalent to waking an adult at 4am  and telling them to go to work. With him having the idea of the schools starting later it would decrease teens falling asleep at the wheel, fewer car accidents, and more students being on time for school.

Before reading this article I knew a lot of teens suffered from sleep deprivation because of staying up late finishing assignments or being on their smartphones. What interested me was how sleep deprivation could really hurt you later on in life or could lead up to it. While reading I found out how this could lead teens to emotional problems, mental illnesses, diseases, cancer, obesity and many more. This gave me a better understanding of what I thought was just teens staying up late at night not going to bed because they chose to. I also understand that this doesn’t just fall on the teens but also on the parents because they aren’t restricting screen time for their child. Even when kids do try to go to sleep their brain won’t allow them to because of everyday uses like lights that makes the brain think its still daytime and you’re supposed to be up and active and not trying to sleep. Now I know that we as teens should try to fix our sleeping schedule and screen time so during our life we won’t come in contact with the risk that we are taking.

Me reading what Mr. Nicholls wrote changed the way that I look at sleeping really. If I miss a couple of hours of sleep I just think I could make it up over the weekend. Now I think if I don’t get a certain amount of sleep then its a risk to my health, mentally and physically. But before reading this I didn’t really think about how getting a less amount of sleep would affect me. Other than having bags or being tired I didn’t think it could lead to anything serious like cancer, or obesity. This really helped me think about what me not getting enough sleep does to my body. I’m going to start to make an effort in minimizing how much time I spend on electronics to at least help part of the problem.

GOPHERS Assignment(government and current events)

Us bombs are killing yemenis children in civilians.Does anybody care?by Moustafa bayoumi.

Image result for yemen children

Yemen feel as if the people of the united state don’t pay attention to the things that are happening outside of the country. They have the U.S sending them bombs that are killing their people. The thing that bothers them is that the U.S doesn’t even care that what they made are hurting and killing women and children, and they aren’t doing anything to stop or help the situation. They know that the people of the U.S who make these weapons Know what they’re doing and how it affect the people that they are sending them to. We are basically ignoring them making them feel as if it’s not about Donald trump or Robert Mueller then we don’t care about anything. They aren’t getting the public attention that they need to help stop the problem in their country.

Before reading this article about Yemen i didn’t even know what was going on. I didn’t know where Yemen was i thought it was in Europe or somewhere around there. When reading about how Yemen was in a civil war all i thought was, why would they create bomb just to hurt there own people? When i found out that the U.S were the one’s supplying them with high class bomb it didn’t really surprise me, With the president we have today this would be something expected sorta. i was surprise when i read that the bomb they used and placed in a common market killed 54 people, and out of those 54 people 44 of them were children no older than the age of 11 or 12. The first thing i thought when i read that was, why would you do that to your own people? This isn’t all their fault though, the U.S were the ones providing the bombs for them to do this type of damage. While everyone think the United States is the best and is the best place to be they aren’t paying attention to the harm we help cause in other places, and if they are aware they just aren’t paying attention to it and pushing it to the side like it doesn’t matter. Those things were what Bayoumi was talking about which gets you to think about how we are living and what we choose to pay attention to, or just learn and show attention to.

When i think about about what happened in Yemen i think about ways that could have helped or prevented those 54 people from losing their life. There are many countries that are struggling and have really bad communities. Yemen i not sure what really lead up to all this war and fighting, but i do know is we could help. If the United State are helping them by providing them bomb then they could probably help in more efficient ways. Instead of giving them bombs and other weapon they should help with poverty and low economic communities. We are just helping them take innocent children and women’s life. I thought it was just the government showing the people that he runs that country and you shouldn’t step over the limits, and the way he showed it was having soldiers set up bombs in random places. But now i just think there were ways to prevent or help the situation and the blame can go all around.
